WSE InfoEngine SA (former InfoGiełda SA) was established in 2004, while it developed its operating activities in April 2005. The company's sole shareholder is Warsaw Stock Exchange (Giełda Papierów Wartościowych w Warszawie SA.). The company's mission is to contribute to adoption of corporate governance values and principles by increasing transparency of listed companies' operations, as well as to improve shareholders' scope to exercise their rights.
Central to the company's activities is the use of the Internet, and the core subject of these activities is to offer shareholders or other customers the opportunity to follow general meetings, investor meetings and conferences, as well as other webcasted events. The company uses the data streaming technology, which involves a multimedia file, i.e. sound and image, being transmitted via the Internet to a local user's computer and played in real time. The advantage provided by this option is that the user does not need to download and save a file to view its content.
Corporate events (investor meetings, AGM's) webcasting is widely used in the European Union countries and in the US.
In 2006, Proxy Vonting OnLine (PVOL) was added to the company's service offer. Combined with webcasting, this service allows shareholders who are physically absent from an AGM to send voting instructions to their proxies.
